Marie Van Brittan Brown
Marie Van Brittan Brown was born October 30, 1922, a native of Jamaica, Queens N.Y a very high crime rate section of the suburb. Marie was married to Albert Brown. Her occupation at the time was a nurse and Albert was an Electrician. There have been some papers that have indicated that they had children. With all my research have found very little information regarding the browns. There are neither videotaped interviews nor any article clippings regarding them. The current information has been issued. Marie along side with her husband was the first to develop the CCTV invention. The first for an African woman and The First for an African Man. Either prior to 1966 or during that year because of high crime rates and riots taking place they both thought up this idea.
They created 4 peep holes where the camera would move and transfer the image onto a monitor inside a home so the individual would be able to watch their property. Alongside with the security system they created a safety lock can be opened by remote control, including an alarm system in the event a crime was taking place. Marie and Albert Brown invention was patented in 1969, and became the framework and platform for all modern closed circuit television system that is widely used for surveillance, crime prevention, and traffic monitoring, and military.
Marie passed way on February 2, 1999 no other information about her husband and where they were interred.
